Fucoxanthin has something that few other natural or herbal supplements do. It has two clinical reserach studies to back up its claims. The makers of this supplements claim that this herbal supplement is effective as a thermogenic or increases metabolism. It also helps burn fat quicker than normal. This is especially true for visceral fat. For those who are not aware, visceral fat is the fat that is stored around the organs and the fat that is around the abdomen. They also make claims about its ability to be a powerful antioxidant or its ability to help the body fight against toxins and even to prevent some diseases such as heart disease.

A Russian Biochemist who is recognized as a marine plant life expert was the first to isolate fucoxanthin from seaweed in 2002. The enzyme was recognized for its cartenoid characteristics at that time which led to its credence as a powerful antioxidant but he wanted further study to see what its role would be in burning off fat or thermogenics, and any other health benefits that might be recognized during the studies.

He then proceeded to have fucoxanthin analyzed and studied to see its benefits on first lab animals and then people. A Japanese study was done first on lab rats which showed that the rats did indeed lose 5-10 percent of their body fat when injected with this substance. A later clinical trial was done in Russia on over 150 women who were followed for weight loss and other health benefits while taking this supplement. The findings were very positive.

Each woman lost on average 15 pounds during the study. The thermogenics factor of the supplement played out as their metabolic rates were raised on average 20% during the study. Other health benefits that were realized were lower blood levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, and C-reactive proteins.

They are still studying the additional health benefits of this supplement. The antioxidant properties are excellent in addition to all the other benefits that are listed above. This supplement shows great promise for the future for improving health and helping people with weight loss issues!
